Three-year Genghis Khan trek ends
An Australian man has completed a three-year journey from Mongolia to Hungary, following in the footsteps of the Mongolian leader Genghis Khan.
However, a stint at home when his father died and other delays meant it took more than double that.
Throughout the trek he travelled on horseback and relied on the hospitality of local people, including nomads.
He travelled with three horses at any time, one to carry him and two to carry feed and supplies and briefly, whilst in Kazakhstan, also used a camel.
He needed 13 horses in total to complete the marathon journey, though two of them - Taskonir and Ogonyok - have been with him since October 2004 when he was in Kazakhstan.

A TOTAL of 1,010 bikini-clad women made history at Bondi Beach today, where they broke a world record by posing in the largest swimsuit photo shoot ever.Guinness World Records representative, Chris Sheedy said the shoot was ''one of the more spectacular world records'' he had been invited to adjudicate.
''As an Australian myself, it's logical that any record involving sun, sand and surf should be held in this country,'' he said.
''I imagine it will be quite an effort to better the mark set by Cosmopolitan at Bondi's world-famous beach but we throw the challenge out to other countries around the world, to outdo this precedent-setter.''
The shoot will appear in the January issue of Cosmopolitan, on sale Monday December 3, and will also feature in the next edition of the Guinness World Records book, out in September 2008.

U.S. military cemetery running out of space
"We are full," said Alison Kohler, spokeswoman for the Fort Riley U.S. Army post, home of the 1st Infantry Division.
U.S. Sens. Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts, both Kansas Republicans, on Thursday sent a letter to William Tuerk, the under secretary for memorial affairs at the Department of Veterans Affairs, urging for full funding for a new cemetery for Fort Riley.
"While a new cemetery would not be completed in time to alleviate this situation immediately, it is vitally important," Roberts and Brownback, a Republican presidential candidate, said in their letter.

Speed up Windows XP
Eliminate programs that run at start-up. Speed up shutdown times. Disable services that run at start-up.Stopping programs from running at start-up is especially daunting because there is no single place you can go to halt them all. Some run because they're in the Startup folder, others because they're part of logon scripts, others because of Registry settings, and so on. But with a little bit of perseverance, you should be able to keep them from running.

If you are a regular drinker at the Woodman pub in Woodmansterne you may have heard these questions asked of Alfie, a three-year-old minature Shetland pony who is a regular there.
The pint-sized pony made his first appearance at the pub earlier this year after his owner Sharon Sutherland decided his health was being affected by long periods spent alone.
The 41-year-old of Chipstead Way, Banstead, said: "He became very attached to me during a period of illness, so in case he became unwell again I didn't want to leave him."
